In 2014, Rolanda, the founder's husband of 19 years tragically died in a house fire. With 5 children, the youngest being a 15-year-old daughter, Rolanda struggled to make sense of it all. Rolanda searched for resources to help her daughter, and herself, cope with the loss of their loved one. Resources were not as easy to find, but eventually, they would come across the services of GriefShare, and Christian works at Camp Erin.
The camp provided a 3-day, free grief camp, for children ages 5-18, who had suffered grievous losses of close loved ones at no cost. Griefshare also provided face-to-face support groups tailored for grieving adults also.
Griefshare and The Christian Works Camp became life-changing experiences for Rolanda. Once the healing processes began to take effect, Rolanda would become an advocate to help others by creating LIFT R&R. With the conception of the LIFT R&R organization, thus far it has been able to:
- adopt a nursing facility, providing care packages twice a year (Spring and Winter) for its elderly population.
- become a Toys 4 Tots collector and distributor.
- provide families in poverty shopping extravaganzas with the annual, “Another Man's Treasure Event” that continues serving people who are in need of furniture, clothing, groceries, and much more!
- Be recognized as keynote speakers at places such as; Goodwill of North Texas, Grace Like Rain, and a host of other educational and nonprofit organizations providing hope.
LIFT R&R has continued to serve its nonprofit partners by highlighting them and selecting certain nonprofits to be recognized as “nonprofit of the week,” and creating space for their organizations to connect their services to those in which they can impact successfully. We at LIFT R&R are truly honored to serve, as this is our passion and our mission. This is who we are. Welcome to L.I.F.T. R&R. (Laboring In The Field Together Resources and Referrals)
