Description

City Missions is seeking a Volunteer Accountant to help ensure the financial health and transparency of our growing nonprofit. In this vital role, you’ll help manage our financial records, ensure compliance, and contribute to the effective use of resources that bring hope, dignity, and care to our friends experiencing homelessness in Collin County.


Key Responsibilities

 Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and organized records of all financial transactions, including donations, grants, and outreach expenses.

 Budget Management: Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets that support City Missions’ outreach, programs, and events.

 Reporting: Prepare periodic financial reports for board meetings and grant applications.

 Compliance: Ensure all financial practices align with nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements.

 Financial Strategy: Provide guidance on strategies that promote financial sustainability and operational efficiency.

 Support Fundraising Efforts: Partner with the fundraising and leadership teams to track campaign budgets and measure financial impact.


Qualifications & Skills

 Alignment with City Missions’ Christ-centered mission and values of hope, dignity, and community.

 Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management (nonprofit experience preferred).

 Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks or similar).

 Familiarity with nonprofit financial regulations and tax filings.

 Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
