Juneteenth Organization of Wylie also know as JOW plans the Wylie Juneteenth Festival in partnership with the City of Wylie. The festival and its JOW events are planned and accomplished annually through the hard work of a small but dedicated volunteer committee consisting of local Wylie residents, who joined together with the City of Wylie to educate and celebrate the rich history of our road to freedom. This nationally recognized holiday is especially important to Texans, as it marks the day that the institution of slavery was finally abolished in all states. As an organization we honor our rich history with cultural & community events for Wylie residents.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic volunteers to help bring this event to life! Volunteer roles include:
- Assisting with event set-up and break-down
- Watching and monitoring the kids' play area
- Supporting vendors and organization volunteers
This is a great opportunity to be part of something meaningful, connect with your community, and support a historic celebration. Whether you're looking to earn service hours or simply want to give back, we’d love to have you join us!
