The Juneteenth Organization of Wylie (JOW) proudly plans and hosts the annual Wylie Juneteenth Festival in partnership with the City of Wylie and the Wylie Police Department.
This festival, along with other JOW events, is made possible by the dedication and hard work of a passionate volunteer committee made up of local Wylie residents. Together, we are committed to educating our community and celebrating the rich history of our nation’s journey to freedom.
Juneteenth is a nationally recognized holiday that holds deep significance—especially in Texas—as it marks the day when the last enslaved people were finally freed after a lengthy war, bringing an end to slavery across all states and signaling the true close of the Civil War.
As an organization, we honor this powerful history by creating meaningful cultural and community-centered experiences for the residents of Wylie.
