Juneteenth Organization of Wylie also know as JOW plans the Wylie Juneteenth Festival in partnership with the City of Wylie and Wylie PD.
The festival and its JOW events are planned and accomplished annually through the hard work of a small but dedicated volunteer committee consisting of local Wylie residents, who joined together with the City of Wylie and Wylie PD to educate and celebrate the rich history of our road to freedom.
This nationally recognized holiday is especially important to Texans, as it marks the day that the institution of slavery was finally abolished in all states and the Civil War finally ended. As an organization we honor our rich history with cultural & community events for Wylie residents.
The celebration will take place at Olde City Park in downtown Wylie.
A Family Fun event that will include, DJ, Live Music & Entertainment, Free Food, Free Concessions, Bounce Houses, Games, History, Health & Wellness, Food Truck & Local Vendors.
This year we're celebrating our historical heritage. Come on out and bring the family, friends, and neighbors for a historical celebration!
Admission is FREE!
Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and enjoy the festivities. Food vendors and food trucks will charge separately and will require cash or credit cards. Please come ready to shop and support these hard working small businesses. Thanks
