Who We Are
The Assistance Center of Collin County brings carefully qualified and prompt short-term assistance to individuals and families in financial crisis to help them regain self-sufficiency.
Through discerning programs, guidance and funds, we help stabilize Collin County families’ home economies to fight homelessness, hunger, and poverty as well as help protect our entire community from a wave effect of negative impacts.
What We Do
• Prevention of homelessness by providing short-term emergency financial assistance for rent and utilities to residents who are facing an unexpected crisis or a temporary, emergency setback.
• Fight against hunger by providing residents in need with one week’s worth of food.
• Help clothe those in need by providing seasonal clothing through the clothes closet.
• Help provide medicine to the indigent by providing financial assistance for prescription medications.
• Help with getting to job interviews and work through financial assistance with gasoline.
• Providing our residents with top-notch navigation of social-service agencies through our Information and Referral Call Center and Collin County Cares Book - soon to be online accessed via the internet.
• Sharing client data with other social-service and faith-based agencies for collaboration, avoiding duplication, and reporting statistics and outcomes through Salesforce web-based software, including the online Chatter instant messaging
• Equipping our children through the “Tools for School” Back to School Program, students in the Plano Independent School District (PISD) who are living at or below the Federal Poverty level are given backpacks, school supplies, and new shoes.
• Making the holidays happier for our children through the “Hope for the Holidays” Toy and Food Drive, providing children living at or below the Federal Poverty Level in PISD with toys, gifts, and one month of food for the holidays.
