If you choose to become a Warehouse Volunteer, you'll play an integral role in our commitment to distribute food to individuals and families in our community who need it most. In this position, you will work alongside our dedicated staff and fellow volunteers to ensure efficient operation, cleanliness, and organization of our warehouse, as well as assist in packing boxes for our mobile food distributions. Responsibilities:
- Welcome and maintain a respectful environment for all volunteers and staff members.
- Assist in packing approximately 50 lbs. of food into boxes for the upcoming weekend's food distributions.
- Help to organize packed food boxes onto pallets, ensuring efficient and safe stacking for transport.
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse by re-stocking supplies and keeping areas tidy.
- Examine food donations, checking for expired dates and damaged packaging to maintain quality standards.
- Aid in inventory management by keeping track of the food stock and notifying the warehouse coordinator when supplies are low.
- Collaborate with other volunteers and staff members to ensure smooth operation of warehouse activities.
- Uphold confidentiality and respect the dignity of our donors and beneficiaries.
- Adhere to all safety and hygiene guidelines, including correct handling and storage of food items.
- Attend volunteer meetings and training sessions as required.
- Provide feedback and suggestions to improve the warehouse operations and the overall efficiency of our food distribution process.
