Women of Purpose United (WOPU) is seeking compassionate, faith-filled volunteers to serve on our Prayer & Care Team. This ministry-centered volunteer opportunity is designed for individuals who have a heart for encouraging others through prayer, compassion, and authentic connection.
The Prayer & Care Team plays a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive, and emotionally safe environment for women participating in WOPU programs, events, and community initiatives. Volunteers serve as a source of encouragement by praying with and for participants, following up with members in times of need, and helping cultivate a culture of hope, healing, and purpose.
This role is ideal for individuals who demonstrate spiritual maturity, empathy, discretion, and a genuine desire to serve others.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, confidential prayer support before, during, and after WOPU events and programs.
- Pray individually with participants who request encouragement or spiritual support.
- Receive and maintain prayer requests with professionalism, confidentiality, and care.
- Conduct follow-up wellness check-ins with members experiencing life challenges, illness, grief, or major transitions.
- Send thoughtful encouragement through calls, texts, emails, or handwritten cards as directed.
- Help create a welcoming and emotionally safe environment where women feel seen, valued, and supported.
- Collaborate with Program Support leadership regarding participant care needs while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
- Support healing circles, workshops, conferences, and special events through prayer coverage and participant care.
- Participate in team prayer meetings, volunteer trainings, and periodic ministry development sessions.
- Encourage participants to utilize appropriate WOPU resources and programs that support their personal growth and healing.
Preferred Qualifications
- A heart for serving others with compassion and humility.
- Strong personal faith and commitment to encouraging others through prayer.
- Excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Dependable, compassionate, and emotionally mature.
- Comfortable praying with individuals from diverse backgrounds while honoring WOPU's faith-centered mission.
- Previous ministry, mentoring, counseling support, or care ministry experience is welcomed but not required.
Volunteer Commitment
- Attend required volunteer orientation and training.
- Participate in scheduled team meetings as available.
- Serve during WOPU programs, workshops, conferences, and special events.
- Respond to assigned care requests and follow-up opportunities in a timely manner.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and the mission and values of Women of Purpose United.
