Register to volunteer for the City of McKinney 2026 Point-In-Time (PIT)
Count. The PIT Count will take place from 6:30 PM to Midnight, Thursday,
January 22, 2026.
Each year, the City of McKinney together with Housing Forward and
the Collin County Homeless Coalition (CCHC) counts and surveys its
homeless population, sheltered and unsheltered, as part of a nationwide event.
The PIT Count's success relies heavily on help from volunteers.
The City of McKinney encourages residents and other individuals to volunteer their time by registering for the 2026 PIT Count Thursday, January 22, 2026, from 6:30 PM to Midnight.

7:00 to 7:45 PM Mandatory Training
8:00 to 12:00 AM Survey
We need 15 teams of 4-consisting of one team captain and three additional team members to canvas assigned areas within the City limits to locate, survey, and distribute care packages to unsheltered homeless individuals and families.
To register as a volunteer, you must first create a profile with Volunteer McKinney. After you have created your profile, you can "Respond as a Team" for one of the available shifts listed below. You will be asked to Build a Team by entering your team’s name. Click on Add Me and select leader. You can then add additional members by adding their email addresses and first and last names. No worries if your team isn’t organized just yet. Click “Continue” Select when you want to volunteer by clicking on the shift. Then select “Finish”. You will then be routed to your team page. Where your opportunity is listed, click on “Manage Team”. This will take you to your “Team Response”. Here you will be able to reserve the remaining slots to complete your team. Select “Update”. This will eliminate any available slots on the shift selected. You can then copy the join link and forward to your potential team members.
