Volunteer Position: Food Rescue Driver (Dallas & Collin Counties)

Location: Dallas & Collin Counties, TX
Schedule: 4-hour shifts, 2–3 days per week
Start Date: Ongoing Commitment: Ongoing, minimum of 3 months preferred
Position Overview:
We are seeking dedicated and reliable volunteers to serve as Food Rescue Drivers to help reduce food waste and fight hunger in our community. As a Food Rescue Driver, you will collect surplus food donations from grocery stores, restaurants, and other partners, and deliver them directly to R&R Skills Training Academy sites or local nonprofits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pick up donated food from designated locations across Dallas and Collin Counties
- Safely transport and deliver food to partner agencies
- Maintain accurate records of pickups and deliveries
- Communicate any issues or delays with the volunteer coordinator
- Follow proper food handling and safety procedures
Requirements:
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a personal, reliable vehicle
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (with or without assistance)
- Comfortable using a smartphone (for routing and tracking purposes)
- Punctual, responsible, and able to work independently
- Passionate about reducing food waste and supporting your local community
