WOPU is seeking a Volunteer Accountant to ensure the financial health and transparency of our organization. In this vital role, you will help manage our financial records, ensure compliance, and contribute to the effective use of resources to support our mission of empowering minority women entrepreneurs
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including donations, grants, and expenses.
- Budget Management: Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets to support WOPU’s events and initiatives.
- Reporting: Prepare periodic financial reports for board meetings and grant applications.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and reporting requirements.
- Financial Strategy: Provide guidance on financial strategies to improve operational efficiency and sustainability.
- Support Fundraising Efforts: Work closely with the fundraising team to track campaign budgets and financial outcomes
Qualifications & Skills
- Alignment with WOPU’s faith-based mission and passion for empowering minority women.
- Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial management (nonprofit experience preferred).
- Knowledge of accounting software (QuickBooks).
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial regulations and tax filings.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills.
