This is the prep & staging of the garden for planting the next day!
Activities include unloading plants, labeling, organizing plants, weeding, mulching & other various needs.This community event is hosted by Blackland Prairie Master Naturalists, Keep McKinney Beautiful, Youth Creating Change, One Earth One Chance, and Texas Conservation Alliance. Whether you're an experienced gardener or new to planting, all are welcome to roll up their sleeves and make a lasting impact!
McKinney Green Gardens is located in Gabe Nesbitt Park, between the water tower and Hillsdale Drive. Volunteers will help remove weeds and plant native species while learning about drought-tolerant gardening, water conservation, watershed protection, and the value of prairie habitat for insects, birds, and other wildlife.
What to bring:
- Water to stay hydrated
- Sunscreen and bug spray
Tools will be provided. Come help us grow a healthier, more resilient North Texas!
Parking: Directly across from the garden and water tower. Volunteers are not permitted to park next to the water tower or block access to the water tower.
Bathrooms: The nearest restrooms are within walking distance, located at The Courts McKinney Pickleball and Tennis Center, 3253 Alma Rd, McKinney, TX 75070
