About Breast Cancer Can Stick It!

Breast Cancer Can Stick It! is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by professional drummer and breast cancer survivor April Samuels. Our mission is to drum up funds for breast cancer research, trials, and mammograms through music-centric events that ROCK. We are 99% volunteer-powered and uniquely combine the passion of the drumming and music community with the fight to ultimately "stick it" to breast cancer.

Role Summary

We are seeking a high-energy, creative, and mission-driven Volunteer Social Media Manager to lead our digital presence. This role is vital to amplifying our voice, engaging our community of survivors, warriors, and supporters, and promoting our unique fundraising events like Drummathon. You will be the voice of the foundation across Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok, ensuring our message of hope and rock-and-roll resilience reaches a global audience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Content Strategy & Execution: Develop and maintain a monthly social media calendar that aligns with the foundation’s mission, fundraising goals, and event schedule.

  • Podcast/Broadcast Integration: Work closely with the Producer of our signature broadcasts to create promotional clips, live-session reminders, and recap content for:

  • The Beat: Our monthly broadcast featuring survivor stories and industry professionals.

  • Mighty & Metastatic: Focused monthly content supporting the Stage IV/metastatic community.

  • Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC) Broadcasts: Annual targeted awareness campaigns and special event coverage.

  • Community Engagement: Monitor and ensure brand-minded responses to comments, messages, and mentions across all platforms to foster a supportive and active community. 

  • Develop and grow strategic partners: work with our partners and sponsors teams to post, highlight, and tag our partners and sponsors when appropriate, based on the level of support

  • Brand Advocacy: Ensure all posts reflect the "Rock & Roll" spirit of the brand while maintaining the sensitivity and accuracy required for health-related content.

  • Event Promotion: Create buzz and drive registrations/donations for our annual Drummathon and other music-based fundraisers.

  • Analytics: Track engagement metrics to understand what content resonates most with our audience and adjust strategies accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing professional social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.).

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to balance a "rock star" attitude with empathy.

  • A passion for music/drumming and/or a personal connection to the breast cancer cause.

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently in a remote, volunteer-based environment.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the production team to turn video content into social-friendly formats.

  • Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva) or video editing software is a major plus.
