Description

Looking for something new to do in 2022? Then come to the farmstead! Heritage Farmstead Museum is looking for volunteers to assist with their elementary-aged school program. The farm is located in the heart of Plano at 1900 W. 15th Street.

Trained volunteers will lead small groups of 10-15 children and their teachers on a pre-planned tour lasting 90 minutes. Or you may manage a station, such as chicken feeding or schoolhouse, where groups of students visit you as part of their tour.  Introductory training will be held on February 15, 2022.  New volunteers will be paired with a current volunteer following training.

Tours are typically held March through May and September through November, 9:30 am – 12 noon, on Tuesdays through Fridays. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two days per month and be willing to dress in appropriate period clothing. Prairie dresses and other clothing are available along with access to costume experts.

No prior experience is needed, just a willingness to learn the unique history of the Heritage Farmstead Museum and share your time with children.
