Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors (N3) exists to ensure that families in Collin, Denton, and Grayson counties have reliable access to nutritious food while building pathways toward long-term self-sufficiency. Our mission is to fight food insecurity, reduce generational poverty, and promote the value of nutrition so that our neighbors can thrive — not just survive.
Organizational History & Growth
Founded in the 1980s as Bethlehem Place by women from Prosper United Methodist Church, the organization began as a grassroots response to unmet needs among elderly residents, disadvantaged families, and migrant farm workers supporting local agriculture. What started as a small, volunteer-led effort in a modest building on church property steadily evolved through community generosity. Volunteers constructed shelving, donors supplied essential equipment, and local youth groups contributed labor — laying the foundation for a culture of service that continues today.
In 2012, the organization formally incorporated as a 501(c)(3) and became Neighbors Nourishing Neighbors. As demand grew, N3 relocated in early 2020 to a larger downtown Prosper facility — a move that proved providential as the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically increased food insecurity across North Texas. Despite rapidly redesigning operations to ensure safety and efficiency, N3 maintained uninterrupted service and successfully met unprecedented demand through strong community partnerships and volunteer engagement.
In 2022, N3 expanded into a 3,000-square-foot warehouse, enabling the addition of perishable food distribution through walk-in refrigeration and freezer capacity. Today, our distributions include fresh produce, proteins, shelf-stable goods, and hygiene items — supporting whole-person wellness and healthier outcomes for families.
Resilience in Crisis
On January 18, 2025, N3 experienced a catastrophic two-alarm fire that destroyed inventory, equipment, and caused significant structural damage exceeding $100,000. Remarkably, service was interrupted for only two distribution days. Through immediate collaboration with the Town of Prosper, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Children’s Hunger Fund, the North Texas Food Bank, and numerous local businesses, N3 resumed distribution within one week — serving more than 200 families from the Town of Prosper parking lot event. This response demonstrated both the strength of our partnerships and the critical role N3 plays in the regional safety net.
Expanded Capacity & Current Impact
In September 2025, N3 moved into a new 6,000-square-foot facility in Celina, Texas — strategically located to serve the rapidly growing northern Collin County region. This expansion doubled operational capacity and positions N3 to meet accelerating community need.
Our impact continues to grow:
2022: 4,075 households served (9,537 individuals)
46% children
6% seniors
Today: Over 8,200 households and more than 35,000 individuals served annually
N3 is supported by more than 400 active volunteers and strong partnerships with local municipalities, chambers of commerce, service organizations, churches, and civic groups.
