Who We Are
The all-volunteer McKinney Community Band strives to provide an outlet for adults to enjoy making music and fellowship with other musicians as well as with an audience, proving that music is a life-long enriching experience. Through our outreach in the community via concerts and private performances, MCB members share their love of and appreciation for music with the community, contributing to improving the quality of life for our members and our audience.
What We Do
The McKinney Community Band is a group of volunteer musicians who rehearse weekly and hold several FREE public concerts each year. All our concerts are family-friendly and cover a wide variety of band literature, including both popular and classical music. Our satellite groups, the McKinney Dance Band and the McKinney Flute Choir, provide additional avenues for musicians to connect with each other and music as well as connect with the community by sharing music in smaller settings than the full band. Band members also occasionally work with music students in McKinney in side-by-side rehearsals and performances once a year or so.
Our volunteer needs are primarily for ushers at our concerts and a music library management and concert/rehearsal set-up/logistics.
