The CSO maintains the safekeeping and retrieval of official documents, administers city elections, and provides support services equally and impartially to all city residents and all other customers with professionalism and efficiency. The CSO is responsible for keeping, recording, and preserving the history of the City of McKinney and is the custodian of all the papers and records of the council proceedings. The CSO strives to exceed customer expectations through open and genuine interaction.

The Office of the City Secretary (CSO) is responsible for supporting public engagement with local city government by conducting fair and impartial city elections, appointments, and public meetings, and preserving the city's legislative history.
