Volunteer: Volunteer at The Samaritan Inn Food Pantry

To sign up to volunteer you need to complete a volunteer application with The Samaritan Inn, prior to volunteering. Visit www.saminn.org/volunteer to complete the volunteer application process. The Samaritan Inn operates a grocery-store-style food pantry that serves hundreds of local families every week. Our volunteers are an important part of helping our neighbors get the food they need.  As a pantry volunteer, you’ll make each neighbor’s visit a great one by:

Greeting our neighbors as they enter, shop, and check out of the PantryEnsuring that all shoppers have their membership cards.Answering questions from them as they shopInforming them of any limits to the number of specific items they may take Notifying Pantry Staff if items in your area need to be restockedAssisting with the check out process by scanning membership cards and recording the weight of groceries

You'll need to feel comfortable interacting with our visitors and standing for the duration of your shift.  Spanish is a plus but definitely not required. Thank you for helping us feed our community!

Volunteer: Help Transform Lives - Volunteer at Inn Style Resale Store

Join us in making a direct impact on our community by volunteering at The Samaritan Inn's INN Style Resale Store!

Gently-used clothes, furniture, and household donations are taken to our INN Style Resale Store, located at 103 E. University Drive in McKinney. These donations directly benefit our clients as they are given vouchers to shop at the store for free. INN Style Resale Store also generates financial resources which help us meet the specific and ongoing needs of our residents.

Maintaining a successful resale store requires an abundance of manpower.....and we need your help! We're looking for volunteers aged 14 and up (under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian) who are willing to donate 3 or more hours of their time to help keep our resale store running smoothly. Volunteers are needed 9 am-5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday throughout the year. Volunteer duties could include any of the following: accepting and sorting donations, hanging clothes, arranging donations on the sales floor, sweeping and dusting, assisting customers as needed, organizing clothes and other donations, or setting up displays/merchandising. 

Please note: this position will require you to be on your feet throughout your shift. If you have limitations or a preference for duties, please let us know and we will assign you to the right area. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

We are a comprehensive homeless program that helps willing people gain dignity and independence.

On any given day, at least 44 volunteers are needed to adequately staff essential positions at the Inn. In one week, that equates to a need for 308 volunteers; in one month, 1,232 volunteers.

We are incredibly thankful for every single volunteer and every single group that uses their time, talent, and passion to serve here.

The Samaritan Inn is looking for enthusiastic and caring volunteers to provide childcare while parents attend crucial onsite classes. Your role will be to create a fun and safe environment for our resident children through games, activities, and attentive care.

Volunteer Details:

Volunteers are needed most weekday evenings from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
