Volunteer Information

We’re seeking 100 volunteers to help plant 88 trees. No experience is necessary — all are welcome! Children welcome with a parent/ adult present.

*Please note: You are not digging holes. The holes will be pre-dug!

Provided for all volunteers:

Tools and supplies: shovels, gloves, rakes, sunscreen, bug spray, and bottled waterPlanting sites are pre-prepared in advanceExpert guidance and planting support from Texas Trees Foundation staff

What to Bring: 1. Water bottle, 2. Closed-toed shoes 3. Long pants and clothing that can get dirty

This planting event will bring together volunteers, donors, and partners to create a welcoming, shaded landscape for the future residents of Jericho Village.

Jericho Village is a 38-unit, income-based housing complex built by AGAPE Resource & Assistance Center (supporting individuals and families transitioning out of homelessness). Located in Wylie, Texas, the permanent affordable housing development includes on-site services such as childcare, transportation assistance, and job readiness training.

Part Time Front Office Receptionist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Answer incoming calls promptly and courteously. Check voicemail for messages upon arrival and follow up on any needed items. Maintain the log of calls (for back-up purposes). Greet all guests in a professional manner. Maintain and distribute company lists.Maintain an updated version of procedures manual for the reception desk.Update our participant files in computer and paper files as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

Excellent verbal communication skills, including professional demeanor on the telephone, and when greeting and speaking to guests in the workplace. Good written communication skills. Ability to copy /collate and scan to upload to email or file. Good organizational skills. Ability to prioritize projects.

Days and times needed:

Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Or on a substitute/ on-call basis for any day and time throughout the week!  

ABOUT AGAPE

Agape offers safe housing and essential transitional services to help homeless single women, mothers, and children move toward independence and self-sufficiency. By volunteering with us, you’ll be supporting families on their journey from crisis to stability. 

Snack Donations:

We're seeking individually packaged snacks to feed 14 school-age children for 30 days.Snack Ideas: variety chip box, blueberry Belvita bars, Nutri-grain bars, goldfish, granola bars, little bottle waters, variety cookie box, Scooby snacks, and more

Meal Train Donations:

Contribute by providing fresh, warm meals for 14 children and 4 caregivers in our program. Meals can be homemade or ordered for delivery, as long as they arrive warm and ready to serve. Key dates for meal donations are:- November 23rd

Join us in making a difference by helping prepare homes for our clients as they transition into new spaces. Volunteers will assist with various tasks, including vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, making beds, and deep cleaning kitchens. Your efforts ensure our clients start their new journey in a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment.

Time Commitment: On an as-needed basis

 

Responsibilities:

Vacuuming and dusting all living spacesCleaning and sanitizing bathroomsMaking beds and preparing sleeping areasCleaning ceiling fansThoroughly cleaning kitchens, including countertops, floors, refrigerators, shelves, microwaves, and ovens

Agape Resource & Assistance Center

The Agape Resource & Assistance Center in East Plano helps women, moms, and their children facing situational homelessness. With the help of caseworkers and counselors, women and children typically stay with Agape for six months to a year, during which they gain the skills, strength, and stability for self-sufficiency.
