Volunteer: Create Non-Perishable Food Packs For Homeless

Non-Perishable Food Packs

(Perfect opportunity for student, school clubs, youth groups and others needing community service  hours). For more details please contact Scott at (214) 501-6000 or email- scottmormon@gmail.com
Visit our website at www.bfinc.org

In addition to prayer, we also try to help the homeless we reach out to with their practical needs. Having a Food Pack to hand out to them is a great help especially on days when local food pantries are not open.

To make a food pack please put several non-perishable snack items in a quart-size zip-lock (or off-brand) bag. Note that the bags should be plastic and not paper.

If you can't make a food pack then feel free to donate non-perishable food items.

Example Items:

Here are some example items that will work. We just ask that any liquids be donated separately and not placed inside the bags.

More Examples Of Non-Perishable Food:

Crackers
Tuna in packets
Powdered Beverage Mix Packets
Granola Bar
Nuts
Jerky

Example Completed Bag:

Additionally, if any of your food items require utensils it'd be a great help if you include disposable utensils in the bag.

We are out in the streets daily, so we go through bags quickly. We can go through 400 bags a month. Please know any amount helps us care for the less fortunate in our community.

To drop-off food packs please contact Scott at 972.890.5290 or scottmormon@bfinc.org

We invite you to come participate with us in Plano handing out grace bags to the disadvantaged. We also provide education for those interested about the reality of homelessness in our community.

We also do drug and alcohol addiction awareness in schools, churches, parenthood groups etc. educating about the results of chemical addiction. If interested please message or call us. Thank you, Scott

Volunteer: Patient Advocate at a Free Healthcare Clinic | Walk alongside our patients, building relational equity

Our purpose goes far beyond providing medical care. We are called to walk alongside our patients in their journeys, offering not only support but the gift of meaningful connection. As Patient Advocates, we aim to build deep relational equity, seeing each individual as a valued soul through the compassionate eyes of Christ.

Our role is to bring the light of the Gospel into every interaction—through kind words, thoughtful actions, and unwavering love. We seek to be attentive to the Holy Spirit, listening for His guidance on how to best minister to the unique needs of every person we encounter.

This isn’t just a task—it’s a profound opportunity to make an eternal impact, to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we shine His light in places of darkness, offering hope, healing, and dignity to every soul we serve.

To apply, go to https://commongoodmedical.org

------------------------------------------------------------------- CommonGood Medical exists to share the love of Jesus Christ by partnering with our community to provide quality, compassionate health care and resources to our medically underserved neighbors. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Texas has the highest number of uninsured persons in the United States.

The uninsured are up to four times less likely to have a consistent source of health care as those with insurance. Without a medical home, the uninsured often receive health care in the emergency room, the most expensive and least efficient setting possible for primary care.

In McKinney, over 18,000 residents are uninsured and over 12,000 live in poverty. This leaves many without affordable access to health care.

Volunteer: Create Mini-Hygiene Kit (or Donate the Items) for the Homeless

(Perfect opportunity for student, school clubs, youth groups and others needing community service  hours). For more details please contact Scott at (214) 501-6000 or email- scottmormon@gmail.com
Visit our website at www.bfinc.org

Mini-Hygiene Kits

Keeping clean can be very difficult on the streets. When a man or lady is able to keep clean, this can give them that extra bit of positivity they need to get through the day, and it can help them present themselves well for a job interview. Mini-hygiene kits are a great way to help care for the less fortunate.

Here are the ways you can help:

A) Assemble full kits
or
B) Donate whatever hygiene-related items you may have or buy. Feel free to give other items than those we have listed. We have found the ones listed are the most needed items.

Assembly

To assemble a mini-hygiene kit just put the items in a half-gallon-sized zip-lock (or off-brand) bag. If the items fit in a smaller bag that is fine too.

Example Kit:

Kit Contents:

Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Disposable Razors
Deodorant
Soap

Feel free to add more items, but avoid liquids unless sealed very well.

We are in the streets daily, so we go through bags quickly. Please know any amount helps us care for the less fortunate in our community.

To drop off mini-hygiene kits please contact Scott at 972.890.5290 or scottmormon@bfinc.org

We also invite you to come with us to the streets and watch us hand out the kits. We also do educational speaking to all ages about homelessness and drug and alcohol awareness. If interested please message or call us. Thank you, Scott.

Volunteer: Hendrick Student Coach/Mentor 2025-2026

We are in need of mentors!  Become a Hendrick Coach for one of our deserving college scholars!

HSF will welcome 20–25 new college scholars in April 2026, and each student will need a dedicated volunteer coach. While the majority of new coaching opportunities will begin in April, there may also be openings throughout the year if a student needs to be reassigned.

We’re actively recruiting now so we can match coaches as soon as opportunities arise—whether next week or next spring. If you're interested in making a meaningful difference, sign up today!

The HSF coaching program is the main differentiator between HSF and other scholarship organizations. One-to-one coaching is a significant contributor to a student’s academic success.

Students are each assigned a Coach to mentor them throughout the college journey. Coaches help their student monitor progress with their degree plan and stay on track to meet the Hendrick program requirements. They also provide direction with important decisions regarding other aspects of their student’s life and help guide students to learn to manage their time, set priorities, and develop good study habits. A coach is an advocate and a supportive resource, providing encouragement and helping the student stay focused on his or her goals.

Expectations of a Coach:

A willingness to learn about their student and build a relationship

Connect with their student once a month (phone, Zoom, or in person)

Attend end of semester Student Reviews (January and June)

Inform the Student Success Committee of any needs or questions that arise

Fill out a Coach Survey once a semester

The Coach commitment is for 4-6 years with the same student. This creates consistency and stability for the student.
