Rosa Es Rojo, a nonprofit based in North Texas that is committed to educate Latinas on wellness and cancer prevention is looking for an enthusiastic and bilingual Spanish preferably volunteer, (with a small economic stipend of $200 per month) that can help us to assist the Institutional Development area. The successful volunteer might not have extensive experience in the field, but will be willing to dedicate the time and energy to cultivate their knowledge of development, grant writing, research, and analysis. The work can be done remote, with some personal or virtual meetings. Estimated time per week is 10 hours.

Thanks to our amazing donors we distribute almost 20,000 diapers PER MONTH to nearly 400 Collin County babies. Exhausting inventory each and every month. Larger diaper sizes are most requested, sizes 4, 5 and 6 but all sizes appreciated!! Since we rely 100% on donations any assistance is greatly appreciated and will make the difference in the life a local baby in need.

Tinker Much? Sci-Tech Discovery Center needs volunteers with general carpentry skills and experience to help build new exhibits.   If you have the talents we have a fully equipped shop in our new Maker Space.   A variety of projects needing various skill levels are available; from making simple wall panels to complex cabinetry and displays. We need volunteers to help man our visitor center on weekends!  Hours are 11am-6pm, Saturdays and Sundays (also Thursdays and Fridays during the summer months of June-August).  Greet visitors, accept donations, answer questions, etc.

The Museum of the American Railroad serves nearly 4,500 3rd graders in the Frisco ISD and we need volunteers to present STEaM activities as well as PowerPoint presentations in a classroom setting.  We also need volunteers to do the outside train portion of the program.  You don't need to know anything about trains as full training will be provided.  

The Museum of the American Railroad offers walking tours to students during school tours, as well as to the general public.  Each tour lasts around an hour and it does involve walking on railroad tracks and climbing into train cars. 

We are looking for licensed pet therapy teams to visit our patients in the Collin County area, for improvement in quality of life. Our patients and their families will appreciate your outreach and compassion. Our hospice patients are often unable to care for an animal despite having had them in the past or being an animal lover.

VNA is in need of seamstresses of all skill levels to help us stitch comfort into our patients' lives. Our patients and their families will benefit from your handiwork and compassion in the form of Memory Bears, soft pillows, and other assorted plushes sewn with love. Memory Bears and other sewn items are often given to family and friends who have lost a loved one. These gifts can help bring closure and are a physical reminder of their loved one. This could be a great opportunity to use your talents to help others in your community. Your homemade touch will be greatly appreciated by the recipients.

The Grant Writing Assistant Volunteer position encompasses locating research, pricing structures, and data to add to various grants our agency is completing. Grant assistants would also assist in the actual composition of the grant should they wish to gain that experience. The grant writing assistant position can be done from an off site location. Each week set deadlines will need to be met and a phone meeting will take place among UTH staff and the volunteer.  At least 3 hours a week are expected for this position. Opportunity to work on various grants throughout their tenure. Tenure is expected to be at least 2 months. Excellent communication and organization is expected in this position. Volunteers who succeed in this position are reliable, punctual, well spoken, good at taking initiative and thinking ahead. This position is for the duration of the program selected (normally program runs for 5 Fridays over a 3 month period). This position will be working directly with our special needs clientele (grades 6th-12th) and are expected to redirect our clientele to keep them engaged & this could require modeling, one on one teaching, hand over hand assistance, etc. This program is held at locations outside our building and therefore a heavy supervision aspect is expected by staff to ensure safety. 

The volunteer will be present at our site at least 2.5 hours per event (6-8:45pm) plus will need to be willing to read their emails to be prepared for the group lesson each event meeting. Volunteers who succeed in this position are reliable, punctual, enjoy children & have an even temperament, and great communication. This position is for those individuals who are good at taking initiative and thinking ahead.

Training in disabilities and the program will be provided. Due to the nature of our clientele, a resume and a volunteer form will be required to be completed for this position as well as an observation at our site during the program will be required before a commitment can be made.  This position can be a volunteer position or used for class credit, practicum, or internship.

With over 300 families being served each month at our Denton building it could use a spruce up inside, particularly in our bathrooms.  This project is great for a group or can be done by an individual with experience laying tile. This can be done at an arranged time that is convenient for you.  We have all the supplies, just need your expertise and manpower. 

We have two bathrooms needed the spruce up.  One bathroom is approximately 66” x95” and the other is 80” x 111”.  The sink is a pedestal type sink.

With over 200 families being served each month at our Frisco building it could use a spruce up outside.  This project is great for a group or can be done by an individual. It can be done all at one time or over a few days.  The project spruce up would include: wash outside windows, pull the weeds and vines in our flower beds, add more mulch to the flower beds, trim the trees, plant new plants, create fixture to hold our portable agency sign, touch up paint outside, stain the chairs and table outside.  We have all the materials just need your expertise and manpower.

Travelling to the location where LOF is held can be provided by our agency from either our Denton or Frisco location. 

We have a need to figure out how to install outdoor lighting at our Frisco location, but we need to do it correctly.  The McKinney Housing Authority offers afterschool homework assistant Monday-Thursday from 3:30p-5:30p. On Wednesdays we have YMSL on board to lead but need additional volunteers to assist with the growing number of children attending and to be able to help each child daily with whatever they may need additional one on one help with. This is a great opportunity for high school Juniors and Seniors that need community service hours.

A program focused on using artistic expression to help the residents of Cumberland use their strengths in creating arts and crafts. The ultimate goal is to help residents by allowing them a venue to express themselves.

JOB PURPOSE

The volunteer is meant to plan athletic activities for residents on campus in order to keep them physically active. This can range from games for large groups to smaller activities, and can be varying levels of intensity based on the wants and needs of the residents.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and implement physical activities for residents
• Encourage residents to become involved and more physically active, making the experience positive for all involved
• Be open to creating plans/programs based on the desires of the residents
• Activities can range from yoga and meditation to crossfit and team games (baseball, basketball, etc.)
• Come with plans already created and ideas for how to use program to benefit residents of all ages

JOB PURPOSE

The volunteer will plan birthday parties for residents, based on the desires/preferences of the resident while remaining within the budget.
This is to remind the resident that Cumberland cares about their life and their birthday, while having one person or group of people in particular focus on making the birthday party a fun, exciting experience.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Meet with resident to find out preferences for party
• Maintain budget when purchasing materials (cake, decorations, gift cards, etc.)

We are proud to start a campus garden to compliment our greenhouse. Volunteers will set a schedule up with the Volunteer Coordinator to help us maintain, plant and harvest crops. Those interested in the garden may work with our residents or not. Children with supervision are welcome, however, a background check and fingerprint testing must be done for volunteers if working with children with no supervision.

JOB PURPOSE

Volunteer will use menus and resources given by Cumberland to create a meal for cottage residents. This is a potential opportunity for residents to help cook and for volunteers to teach them how to cook. This involves being a positive influence around residents, and general know-how in the kitchen.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Visit cottage (once a week is preferred but no less than twice a month is required) to help prepare/cook the meal for the cottage in the evening using ingredients, recipes, and menu based on state’s minimum standards
• Volunteer may choose to offer a different meal on occasion by requesting the change through the Volunteer Coordinator or Food Services Coordinator.
• May stay and enjoy meal with resident, not required to clean afterwards.
• Sometimes involve residents with preparation, per staff discretion

JOB PURPOSE

Food Services is responsible for ensuring all of our residents and clients have access to affordable food. Volunteer should be a self-motivated, highly energetic individual who understands the nutritional needs for a wide range of people. The ideal volunteer will have a service-oriented attitude. They will follow dietary standards for our residents and provide one-on-one coaching on an as-needed basis.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Different duties are expected for different days.

Administrative support: Admin in the food program will support the Food Coordinator in areas of needs. These are mainly "as assigned" duties, tasks such as but not limited to: editing documents, entering shopping lists, entering receipts, checking logs. Admin hours may be schedule as needed but must be approved by the Food Coordinator. Hours vary based on needs and availability.

Monday:
Pulling stock for the NEXT week: 2 hours, 10-12 pm. Involves using the NEXT week NEEDS list, pull stock from pantry. Place stock in marked refrigerators, marked cottage shelves. Any items NOT found on the list in the pantry need to be MARKED for Tuesdays shopping. Please bring to the attention of the Food Coordinator needed items. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Journeys Meal - 2x per month: 3 hours, 5-7 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing the campus meal for SPF and help clean up.
5:00 pm - begin prep and cook based on cooking needs. Meal should be set up and ready by 10 minutes til 6:00 pm
6:00 pm - serve meal
6:30 pm - clean up kitchen and put extra food away to be delivered to cottages. Kitchen closes.
7:00 pm - clock out

Tuesday:
Food Pick Up: 2 hours, 10-12 pm. Riding along with Food Coordinator to purchase shopping items. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Food Stocking and Pulling: 2 hours, 12-2 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in stocking and putting away purchased food. Stock needs from Monday’s Stock Pull for Wednesday Pickups. Make sure all items are on shelves for Wednesday Food Pick Ups by Cottage. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Wednesday:
Cottage Food Delivery: 4 hours, 10-2 pm. Assist cottage in retrieving the next week’s food items and stocking them in the cottage. Must be able to lift 30 pounds or more.

Wacky Wednesday Food Prep and Clean Up: 3 hours, 5-7 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing the campus meal for Wacky Wednesday and help clean up.
5:00 pm - begin prep and cook based on cooking needs
6:00 pm - serve meal
6:30 pm - Clean up kitchen and put extra food away to be delivered to cottages
7:00 pm - Clock out

All Staff - 1x per month: 4 hours, 9-12 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in preparing all staff meal, set up needed supplies, clean up.

Thursday:
Rotate Food in Cottages/Inventory Food in Cottages: 1 hour per cottage, 10-1 pm. Using the list to make sure oldest food is to the front of the storage area, that cottage has needed items, and to make sure no cottage has too much. Mark needs and bring extra items to Parr Pantry.

Friday:
Essential Needed Item Shopping: 4 hours, 10-2 pm. Assist Food Coordinator in shopping for needed weekend items, put items away in cottage or in pantry.

Parr Pantry Specifics:
Fold any empty food boxes down, that are in pile and bring to recycling bin.
Remove items from counters and dust off particles, then scrub/disinfect, replace items as they were.
Remove cans/food items from cabinets, dust and disinfect inside the cabinets, then replace items as they were.
Take out food ((MAKE SURE TO NOT MIX UP ITEMS)) from each fridge and scrub and disinfect inside of fridges.
*Make sure to not get cleaning supplies or chemicals on food.

Cottage Kitchen Specifics:

The volunteer position in the library is responsible for organizing and maintaining the library. Library volunteers will ensure the library is stocked with the latest books, shelve returned books, and keep a running list of overdue books. Library volunteers will help residents with the library and any relevant needs.

The Childcare Volunteer will provide childcare to youth of all ages in our Single Parent Family Program or our Community Outreach program.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide youth ages infant to teen with support and engaging activities.
• Keep the playroom and childcare areas clean and organized.
• Assist with crafts, games or free-play.
• Act as a positive role model.
• Provide positive reinforcement and promote healthy, non-violent behaviors.
• Communicate with other staff and volunteers regarding on-going facility, program, and client needs.
• Follow all agency policies and procedures.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.
• Maintain values of dignity, empowerment, and respect with all clients, staff, and volunteers of the agency and program.

Notes:
There are two options, each have openings for 3 volunteers, involving SPF Journeys and Love and Logic.

Love and Logic is every Monday from 5:30-8:00p. You will be working with community children while their parents are in Love and Logic classes. Children will change monthly. Ages will vary weekly. We have games, puzzles, books and crafts for you to engage the children with. Offering homework help would be great. Introducing yourself to the parents and creating a warm and welcoming environment is paramount.

SPF Journeys is bi weekly on Mondays from 5:30-8:00p. Children eat with their parents from 5:30-6:30 and then join you (and the ongoing childcare) in the library. These children are consistent each meeting, ages will range from toddler to 13 years of age. We have games, puzzles, books and crafts for you to engage the children with. Offering homework help and ongoing positive adult relationships will be very important for these families. Creating a supportive and welcoming relationship with the Single Parents will be vital to our program's success. Consistency with these children is key.

JOB PURPOSE

Cumberland has 17.2 acres of land with 3 cottages, 8 Single Parent Family Residences, 1 Section 8 Housing Residence, a gym, a fellowship hall, and more. Volunteers are to help maintenance team with jobs ranging from handyman type work, to landscaping. Volunteers are essential to keeping the “home” feeling on campus. Volunteers may adopt a specific area of campus or simply work on different areas of campus helping us with upkeep. It is perfect for a few hours a week, month or longer.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform tasks as needed based on maintenance team's requests and volunteer's personal skills
• Range from hanging curtains to painting walls to landscaping

Basic knowledge of handyman areas is preferred but our team is great at teaching.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Donations are accepted, sorted and organized to be readied to resupply the Center.Renew Center volunteers are responsible for helping guests find what they need in the actual Renew Center. This can be helping find the right toy, right size shoe or perfect outfit. Renew Storage volunteers are responsible for accepting, sorting, and organizing donations received as well as keeping the donations center clean and stocked for residents to shop. This is NOT opening the Renew Center for residents and clients.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

DONATION ROOM:
1. Process donations received at both ReNew Center and Parr Family Services building by designating items for:
-Direct use to agency residents
-Re-donation to a partner agency

Maintaining CPCH’s ReNew Center located inside the Gilbert-Parr Activities Building, including greeting donors, processing donations, helping residents of CPCH, and reporting to the Volunteer ReNew Center Coordinator

Requirements for the DONATION Room for GROUPS
Because we value this service and must maintain licensing requirements the following eligibility is required:
• Groups- visiting UP TO 4 times (once a quarter) a group event may be scheduled. One representative is requested complete Volunteer Training. NO UNSUPERVISED CONTACT WITH RESIDENTS.
• All group members must submit an online application and sign up through our portal.
• Groups- frequently visiting (more than once per quarter), members must complete and pass CR/DPS check, TB test and Volunteer Training. NO UNSUPERVISED CONTACT WITH RESIDENTS.

Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must consent, complete, and pass all background checks required by DFPS including: department of public safety, FBI fingerprinting, and DFPS central registry.
Must have a Tuberculosis test completed with a negative screening.
Must complete volunteer orientation.

Basic Directions:

Sort the clothes, put them on the racks, and when they're ready trade out old stuff in the renew center for the new stuff on the orange racks.

Unwanted items, or items we cannot make available to our residents are re-donated responsibly. Place them in black bags with a LABEL of contents and RE-DONATE

The general rules of sorting are on posters in the back room. Put extra emphasis on re-donating any clothes that wouldn't meet school dress codes. Basically, new or gently used items are kept.

JOB PURPOSE

Tutor would be responsible for helping a child with homework and preparing for tests. They would need to keep up-to-date on the child’s performance in school. Children in our programs often come to tutoring without work, so the tutor would need to be prepared for this possibility with work sheets or other ways to learn.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule individual tutoring appointments with Volunteer Coordinator or parents. Small Group tutoring appointments will be scheduled with the Volunteer Coordinator.
• Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring.
• Prepare and facilitate possible tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for small groups of students.
• Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
• Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
• Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
• Be a positive role model to all residents by modeling good listening, empathy, respect, good manners, and maintain excellent boundaries.
• Assist in empowering residents to complete all of their responsibilities including chores and homework, never working harder than the resident.
• All volunteers will contact their supervisor if unable to attend the scheduled visit. If canceling within 24 hours of your scheduled visit, contact the Volunteer Coordinator immediately.
• Fill out the appropriate time log online
• Contact the Volunteer Coordinator if there are any concerns.

• Mentors may be allowed to take the resident off campus after completing 4 on-campus visits and receiving off campus approval from the child’s CPS caseworker (if mentoring a resident in the GRO program).

This position will be working directly with our special needs clientele (grades 6th-12th) and are expected to redirect our clientele to keep them engaged & this could require modeling, one on one teaching, hand over hand assistance, etc.

The volunteer will be present at our site at least 3.5 hours per week (2-5:30pm) plus will need to be willing to read their emails to be prepared for the group lesson each week. Volunteers who succeed in this position are reliable, punctual, enjoy children & have an even temperament, and great communication. This position is for those individuals who are good at taking initiative and thinking ahead.

Training in disabilities and the program will be provided. Due to the nature of our clientele, a resume and a volunteer form will be required to be completed for this position as well as an observation at our site during the program will be required before a commitment can be made.  This position can be a volunteer position or used for class credit, practicum, or internship.

This position is for undergraduates who would like more experience working with the special needs population.  This position is one designed for an undergraduate who will be with our sites for 3 or more months.  Typically this position is designed for those wanting an in depth experience and is quite hands on.

The volunteer will be present at our site at least 8-12 hours per week (depending on their own program requirements) plus will need to be willing to read their emails to be prepared for the group lesson each week. This position is for those individuals who are good at taking initiative and thinking ahead.

Training in disabilities and the program will be provided. Due to the nature of our clientele, a resume and a volunteer form will be required to be completed for this position as well as an observation at our site during the program will be required before a commitment can be made.  This position can be a volunteer position or used for class credit, practicum, or internship.

This position is for graduate students who would like more experience working with the special needs population.  This position is one designed for an graduate student who will be with our sites for 6 or more months.  Typically this position is designed for those wanting an in depth experience and is quite hands on.  This position can accommodate those applying to eventual licensure as a LPC, LMFT, ABA, LP, LMSW, or other clinical field.  It can also accommodate other fields for those wanting more direct experience. 

This position also can be tailored for certain fields that do not require a counseling need or background.  However for those working towards a clinical or mental health licensure, a broad experience is typically what is aimed for that would include counseling cases (individual and family), filial therapy through our CRT program, and co-therapist for a social skills group. 

Those applying for this position should recognize that UTH has 2 sites and based on your number of needed hours may need to be available to drive to both the Frisco and the Denton location.  All programs are on the following days: Thursday evenings, Friday evenings, all day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon.  However, those wishing to pursue the counseling agenda should be available on the weekend and also in the evenings after 4pm when children are not in school. With over 300 families being served each month at our Denton building it could use a spruce up inside, particularly in our kitchen sink area.  This project is great for a group or can be done by an individual with experience fixing a small backsplash area and resetting a new sink. This can be done at an arranged time that is convenient for you.  We have all the supplies, just need your expertise and manpower.

It can be done all at one time or over a few days.  The project spruce up of 2400 sq ft. would include: sweep all rooms, mop all rooms, clean door frames, clean baseboards, re-organize closets, touch up paint on the walls, sort the toys in the toy room, clean windows inside. We have all the materials just need your expertise and manpower.

It can be done all at one time or over a few days.  The project spruce up would include: wash outside windows, pull the weeds and vines in our flower beds, add more mulch to the flower beds, lay stone pieces at base of our sign, paint the steel bars on our sign, redo wood base below our agency sign, restring the rope on our fort rope ladders, re-stain the tables outside, re-stain chairs outside.  We have all the materials just need your expertise and manpower.

It can be done all at one time or over a few days.  The project spruce up would include: powerwashing the old decks to free them of old paint, then repainting them.  We have one large deck in the back, a ramp leading up to our building, and one short side deck.

The event volunteer position duties are exclusive to the event that the volunteer signs up for.  Throughout the year the agency has various events that they are hosting.  Some are at our Denton or Frisco location and others are at other sites within the metroplex.  Our events that we have going are found on our website under the meetups/community tab or can be found by going to our Facebook page. Some of the events hosted throughout the year are Bike for Life clinics, Giving Day activities meetups, fundraisers at restaurants and our sites, etc.  Volunteers can also help build or maintain structures at our buildings.  Individuals and organizations are welcome to offer to volunteer.  The event coordinator assistant position can be done from an off site location for the majority of the needs.  The duration of the event volunteering for is between 3 and 5 hours.  Excellent communication and organization is expected in this position. The Fundraising Assistant Volunteer position encompasses locating various businesses that would like to be associated with the agency for particular events, projects, etc.   This position would entail a combination of making phone calls and also personal appearances at businesses.  The fundraising assistant volunteer would be working in tandem with other agency staff and volunteers, coordinating efforts and contacts. Database entry skills would be required to maintain logs of contacts.  The fundraising position can be done from an off site location. Each week set deadlines will need to be met and a phone meeting will take place among UTH staff and the volunteer.  At least 5 hours a week are expected for this position.
