All Board Members:
- Pass a background check
- From the top to the bottom, all staff and volunteers, see themselves as ambassadors for the organization and its philanthropic goals
- Attend, and actively participate in, at least 75% of board meetings (9 of the 11 monthly board meetings. Approximately 1-1.5 hours in length… virtual options available if necessary)
- Be the lead on at least 1 committee
- Attend and actively participate in the annual meeting held in January (3-4 hours)
- Attend 2 major events (Zoo Walk, Great Strides, Backpack Distribution, Auction Events, etc... ) plus the holiday party.
- Attend a new board member orientation (3-4 hours once the position is acquired)
- Commit to a monthly contribution to Blue Caboose
- Continue to educate yourself for the betterment of the organization (one continuing education per quarter. Ex. Webinar, book class, etc. to be reported to the Vice President)
- Promote the mission and be passionate about what we do
- Be familiar with events and policies
President
- Leads and creates agendas for monthly board meetings
- Gives notice of meetings to Secretary
- Performs board evaluations in absence of Vice President
- Works with Executive Director regarding the condition of the organization and important factors influencing it
- Oversees the Executive Committee
- Works with VP and/or Parliamentarian to create SOPs
