Description
If you become a Food Pantry Volunteer, you'll be a big help in our mission to give food to people and families who need it. You'll work with the pantry staff and other volunteers to keep the food pantry well stocked, keep it clean and organized, and help unload donations from the food bank and other retail partners. Your hard work and excitement will help us make a big difference in our community.
Responsibilities:
- Say hello to clients and make them feel welcome and cared for.
- Help clients sign up, fill out forms, and understand how the pantry works.
- Unload food off the pallets and store them in the stockroom.
- Keep the food pantry clean and organized, by restocking shelves and keeping items neat.
- Look at donated food items, and check for expired dates and damaged packaging.
- Work with other volunteers and staff members to keep the pantry running smoothly.
- Keep client information private and respect their dignity and independence.
- Follow all safety and cleanliness rules, including handling and storing food correctly.
