Volunteer: Volunteer for Food Pantry Cleaning and Restocking-February 2026 OpportunitiesThe Samaritan Inn operates a grocery-store-style food pantry that serves hundreds of local families every week. If you become a Food Pantry Volunteer, you'll be a big help in our mission to get food to our neighbors who need it. You'll work with the Pantry staff and other volunteers to: - Help check and sort donations from the food bank, retail partners, and the community - Help restock dry goods, produce, bread/pastries, dairy, and deli items - Help clean and organize by breaking down boxes, taking out cardboard and trash, and cleaning coolers, shelves, and carts Your help is needed NOW! Without volunteers like you, families may face empty shelves. Sign up today and be the reason a neighbor doesn’t go hungry. Thank you for stepping up to nourish our community! Please note: Volunteers will need to be able to move boxes of 20+ pounds of food and stand for the durations of your shift. Please wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes. Volunteers 14+ are welcome to volunteer alongside a parent of a legal guardian. As a pantry volunteer, you’ll make each neighbor’s visit a great one by: Greeting our neighbors as they enter, shop, and check out of the PantryEnsuring that all shoppers have their membership cards.Answering questions from them as they shopInforming them of any limits to the number of specific items they may take Notifying Pantry Staff if items in your area need to be restockedAssisting with the check out process by scanning membership cards and recording the weight of groceriesYou'll need to feel comfortable interacting with our visitors and standing for the duration of your shift.
