Volunteer: Cafe Volunteers NeededAbout Gazebo Cafe
The Gazebo Café is a convenient dining destination located at the Sam Johnson Recreation Center for Adults 50+. On average, 100+ healthy, affordable meals of choice are served Monday - Friday. The Café is not a revenue generating program, and this service is possible because dedicated volunteers and staff work alongside each other. We are currently recruiting people to volunteer at least 1 day per week on Monday, Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays from 9 am - 1:30 pm. Required skills Comfortable using knives and other kitchen toolsMobility to walk, stand, bend and lift up to 20 lbsUnderstand and recall written and verbal directionsAbility to work and communicate with a diverse, intergenerational teamAble to maintain cleanliness and food hygiene standardsExperience as a home cook or prior employment/volunteerism in food service (preferred) Individuals must Be 18+ (cannot be currently enrolled in high school)Want a long-term opportunity (1 shift per week)Pass a background checkComplete a food handling course (FREE)Note: The Cafe does NOT accept one-time volunteers or individuals looking to complete court-ordered community service.
