Who We Are

We are Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2150 - Lone Star Post. We received our charter right here in McKinney, Texas, in 1936 and for 89 years have been serving the greater community. We are not only combat veterans but also veterans, family members of veterans, and friends of veterans who lock arms to carry out our mission.

What We Do

Simply put, VFW serves the living and honors our dead. We do this through various community and relief efforts. As a 501(c)(19) veteran nonprofit, we foster camaraderie, promote patriotism, educate the youth and community, provide relief to veterans, their families, and the community, and serve the greater community.

A few examples, but not limited to, are in our relief fund we raise money for, our 2 annual scholarships we award, annual donation to the Collin County History Museum, and dozens of community service events conducted throughout the year.

We also have a smoke-free, family-friendly, and open to the public facility that helps us raise money to continue carrying out our mission through our canteen and kitchen efforts. It is worth noting that the VFW is not a canteen with a VFW, it's a VFW with a canteen. Meaning, it is supplementary for fundraising and fostering camaraderie, but it is not the focus.
