Who We Are

The Housing Services Division provides services to the residents of the City of McKinney and is a key component of the Housing & Community Development Department.

What We Do

The Housing Services Division (HSD) oversees the development and preservation of quality, affordable, and accessible housing; including the creation of viable communities throughout McKinney.

The HSD utilizes HOME grant funds through the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds awarded to the City of McKinney by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to accomplish this goal. The Housing Services Division provides down payment and closing cost assistance, tenant-based rental assistance and rehabilitation and reconstruction of existing housing.

HSD staff also coordinates the annual Point-In-Time (PIT) Count for the City of McKinney.  Each year, the City of McKinney together with Housing Forward and the Collin County Homeless Coalition (CCHC) counts and surveys its homeless population, sheltered and unsheltered, as part of a nationwide event. The PIT Count's success relies heavily on help from volunteers.
